Backstory
It all began back in 2022, with two friends, wild plans, and a lot of cackles. Our first project was an epic Forgotten Realms adventure module involving the Red Wizards of Thay... a project that was way too ambitious and, sadly, never came to fruition.
However, that wild creative burst gave us two things:
1. A name and mascot for our company (hint: the adventure's villain was a big baddie from Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes).
2. The discovery that we made a great creative team.
Things escalated.

Behind the Cackle
Marco Meulenberg discovered roleplaying games during the COVID pandemic. Ever since, he’s been known to say philosophical gems like, "If I could go back in time to relive my life, there’s only one thing I’d do differently: I wish I’d started playing DnD sooner."
As our resident expert on all things resin, Marco combines creativity and craftsmanship. You can also catch him on the Dutch actual play podcast Geen Woorden Maar Draken.
Josha Stribos has been sketching monster-filled mazes since he could hold a pen. When he discovered that there were actual adults out there who had created rules for this kind of thing, DnD quickly became a lifelong obsession.
Josha is Cacklin Slayers’ main writer, editor, and illustrator. You might know him from the Dutch YouTube-channel Bord Voor Je Kop.

from 221 reviewsOrdered the Zineshot Anthology (excellent oneshots that I hope to implement in my Acquisitions Incorporated campaign) and very happy with what I got. Booklets look good, illustrations are light and uplifting and the adventures themselves are great. Shipment was lightning fast, I got my order the day after purchase. Will definitely return!
Great accessory for DND!
The atmosphere is excellent and the mystery slowly unfolds in a satisfying way. It requires a bit of guidance from the Dungeon Master, but the payoff is worth it.
I'm loving the design, it's exactly what I needed!
Also, look at that goldfoil cover, I love it!
The adventure leaves enough room for improvisation. A few scenes are written loosely, which I enjoyed because it let me tailor the tone to my group. Others might prefer more structure.
I hope more styles come out in the future. I am close to finishing this one and I want the next to look different because I will definitely keep using these.
It handles ink, pencil and markers without issue. I erase constantly and the paper still looks fresh after multiple revisions.
The story is dark and unusual, with moments that genuinely surprised my group. It is not overly complex, which makes it easy to run, but still full of eerie detail.
We’ve played a bunch of battles with the maps we drew on this paper and it held up perfectly. Great value for a serious tabletop group.
I love using this for high level sessions. It finally gives me the space to plan encounters that feel dangerous and cinematic.
This adventure hits the mark in both story and usability. The balance between exploration horror and player agency works really well.
The quality of this package stands out. The writing grips players, the layout is clear, and the downloadable resources saved me hours of prep work. We ran Costly Cargo the same evening we received it and the adventure played out smoothly from beginning to end.
I was surprised how much difference a good map pad makes. Instead of scribbling on scrap paper or whiteboards I now have dedicated, neat sheets that really elevate the game.
The physical quality is again top notch. The paper feels sturdy the printing is clean and the art and layout give the zine a professional feel.
The layout of this log is incredibly practical. Everything I need to track during a session has its own place and the notes page keeps the story organized.
